My black armor sparkles in the sunlight so brightly it would burn the eyes from your head to look directly at it. Guarding these lands from intruders and keeping them safe for the King’s people is my charge. I take my duty quite seriously and nothing will ever keep me from loyally serving my King. I am a member of the King’s Guard complete with black plumage and watchful eyes. We do not waiver and the duty is a life’s work.
Once, years ago, a beauty caught my eye and I was instantly smitten. We spoke volumes in the glances stolen in the hallways of the palace. She was visiting with her mother, a seamstress. The Queen was forever summoning seamstresses from far-away lands to craft exotic pieces. One afternoon, this enchanting beauty called for help from a dressing room. Upon entering, I saw no danger. I only saw an inviting beauty looking back over her shoulder at me through wavy locks. I could not help myself and rushed to her “aid”.
I did not hear her mother enter the room.
I did not know her mother was a gypsy queen.
At least she didn’t make me a frog.
